What is Montessori Education?

Developed in 1906 by Dr. Maria Montessori (an Italian physician & educator), the Montessori method focuses on the respect and independence for each child's growth.  

Montessori education is student-led and self-paced.  Students are guided, assessed, and enriched by knowledgeable and caring teachers, the leadership of their peers, and a nurturing environment.  Connecting communities of life-long learners, the Montessori Method fosters rigorous, self-motivated growth for children and adolescents in all areas of their development—cognitive, emotional, social, and physical.
